It's Construction Time!

Earlier this week, Brandt Construction began site preparation for the south entrance renovation project. This means that the south parking lot is closed for the duration, which we hope will be no more than five to six weeks.

The Board will meet next week to finalize plans and choose a contractor for the 2nd floor restroom project. This project will provide a modern, clean restroom facility with 400% more capacity than we had before. It is hoped that this project will be finished by the first of December, so as to be available for the various end-of-year festivities that take place in the 2nd floor dining room.

We hope that many of you have had a chance to view the outside of the building at night; the lights are beautiful and really add character to our Temple. We hope to be able to install the remaining 11 LED units sometime next year.

Indiana Freemasons Hall in Indianapolis Monthly

Indianapolis residents, check out the article "Da Indy Code" in the October 2007 issue of Indianapolis Monthly magazine. It tells the story of Freemasonry's new growth in Indiana, along with highlighting Indiana Freemason's Hall's rebirth.

The article is now available online here.

South Entrance Construction Update 10/5

After just a few days, there is major destruction on the south entrance. The parking lot has been excavated and the old crumbling stairs are gone.

Construction is expected to take approximately 6-8 weeks. You'll need to enter through the main doors on Illinois Street, and park either on the street or in the Scottish Rite lot.

Please bear with us because great things are coming!

South Elevator Facelift, IMHF Now Open

By the time you read this, the South Elevator will have a whole new look. Floor and wall carpeting and new ceiling panels have been installed giving it a completely different appearance, and new tile has been installed outside of the doors on all floors.

And while you're downtown, stop in and see the new offices of the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation! Their massive redecoration and construction project is now complete, and it is beautiful.

Things keep happening at Indiana Freemasons Hall! More is on the way!

Former IMTA Secretary, Larry Selig, Passes Away

It is our sad duty to report the passing of Larry Selig. Larry died Thursday, October 11th while vacationing in Prague, Czechoslovakia with his wife, Adrienne. As all of you know, Larry was the longtime secretary of the IMTA, the secretary of Monument Lodge, and one of the driving forces behind the Shrine Circus. This is a great loss to the fraternity and he'll be sorely missed. Please keep Larry's family in your thoughts and prayers.

More progress...

Even with all the rain we had this week, the contractors lost only a day of work time. Things are starting to take on some shape now, and the new stairs and ramp are recognizable!

All the above pictures were shot this afternoon. Click them for larger versions.

Concrete progress

The south steps and the handicap ramp have been poured, as of last night.

(I didn't think the handicap ramp was going to be poured until Friday, so I didn't take a picture of it. Noticed it had been poured when I walked out of the building but didn't have my camera at that point...)
